For my optional unit I chose to focus on Wig and Postiche, where I will be exploring the art of using wigs. This includes researching into how film directors, designers, photographers and stylists use wigs to drastically change the models look to suit the genre and the era in film, fashion and performance.
I will research into a chosen area of interest, and then using various hair details - such as plaits, texture, gloss, scale, accessories and colour I will design and create 3 different hairstyles for my character - using the same wig.
The 3 hairstyles will be for three different themes:
1. Simple
2. Moderate
3. Extreme
The hairstyles will have to show three different versions of the character to show the versatility of the wig, and they will form a fashion based story for an avant-garde magazine themed 'Wig Wonderland'.
Each hairstyle will translate into three stylised shots: 1 profile, 1 cropped/back, and 1 front, and I will incorporate props and makeup makeup into the look to finish off the image.
